Edgecore Networks AS5812-54X 10GbE Data Center Switch - Leaf Switch, port-to-power airflow

The AS5712-54X is an economically optimized switch design tailored for Leaf/Top of Rack deployments, catering to 10Gb server connectivity while providing 40Gb uplinks to the distribution/Spine layer of the network. Equipped with forty-eight SFP+ ports, each supporting 1Gb or 10Gb operation, and six QSFP+ ports, which can operate at 40Gb each or be broken out into four 10Gb (or 1Gb) ports each, this switch offers versatile and high-performance connectivity options.

Adopting a PHY-Less design, the AS5712-54X directly attaches SFP+ and QSFP+ connections to the Serdes interfaces of the Broadcom BCM56854 720G Trident 2 switching silicon, ensuring superior cost efficiency, low latency, and power consumption. The AS5812-54X SKU shares identical components with this specification, with the sole exception of substituting the Broadcom BCM56854 Trident 2 silicon with the BCM56864 Trident 2+ silicon. Remarkably, these two SKUs (AS5712-54X, AS5812-54X) are pin-compatible, with no other distinctions between them. Any references to the AS5712-54X in this specification are equally applicable to the AS5812-54X. Furthermore, the AS5712-54X offers traditional features found in Top of Rack switches, including redundant field replaceable power supply and fan units, support for "Front to Back" or "Back to Front" air flow direction, and compatibility with a modular CPU card that allows for flexible CPU and memory configurations. With a sleek 1RU design, this switch seamlessly accommodates both standard 19" rack deployments and standard 21" Open Rack deployments.
