The OCP Foundation board of directors meets every quarter to review the progress of the community and our direction and goals for the coming quarters. Once every four quarters, these meetings also include the nomination and election of board leadership for the upcoming year.
At this quarter’s meeting -- which was held on Sept. 10, at the Goldman Sachs offices in New York -- the board discussed a new approach to selecting its leadership and settled on an annual rotation among the member companies who serve on the board: Facebook, Goldman Sachs, Intel, Microsoft, and Rackspace. Our hope is that this new approach will allow for each of these companies to bring their unique experiences and perspectives to bear on the work we’re all doing together.
With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that Jason Taylor, vice president of infrastructure at Facebook, will serve as the president and chairman of the OCP Foundation board of directors from October 2015 to October 2016. In his role at Facebook, Jason leads the teams responsible for hardware engineering, server budget and allocation, technical program management, architecture reviews, and long-term infrastructure planning. He has been an active OCP board member since 2014.
In his new role with the board, Jason succeeds his former Facebook colleague Frank Frankovsky, who led the board since the foundation was created in late 2011. We want to thank Frank for his leadership, his vision, and all the other contributions he has made to OCP over the years, and we are happy to share that he will remain an engaged member of the OCP Foundation board and the community as a whole.
We’re excited about this new direction for board leadership, and about the future we’re building together as a community. Please join us in thanking Frank and welcoming Jason!
